Four Roses

Generally, this bourbon smells very sweet, very syrupy at first, which I enjoyed thoroughly. Being aged 6 years, I was a little surprised at the bite that it had. I noticed a blend of spicinessĀ and a pleasant oaky taste mixed with just a hint of honey, which is the second time I have noticed honey in bourbon. I would recommend this to people just starting out on bourbon and looking to get away from the status quo.

Straight

Neat, I wasn't too pleased because of the sharpness, but I did enjoy a nice medium finish. There was a note of something I didn't recognize that still has me curious. However, I would definitely recommend this over ice.

Mixed

I recommend this mixed with a caramel colored soda, It lightened up the harshness and became what I would be looking for in a mixed drink at a bar, or just relaxing at home.

Okay, to clarify, the W.L. Weller- 7 Years was the first bourbon I noticed that carried the honey flavor.
