Rowan’s Creek

I’m a sucker for product labeling and any customer-facing design. So, naturally, when I see something like the label for Rowan’s Creek, I’m very interested. The label looks like it was made by hand, and that’s exactly how the whiskey is made. In small batches, by hand. And you can tell. A nice mix of spice, oak and vanilla compete a bit with the strong alcohol presence, but that is easily overcome with a couple ice cubes or a splash of water. Overall, a nice bourbon, worth the price if you’re drinking it straight. Might want to find something else if you’re mixing though.

Straight

Neat, it's a bit harsh. The alcohol overwhelms anything else. When put over ice, and allowed a little time to melt, the fire is tamed and the other flavors start to come out.

Mixed

Mixing is always an interesting topic when it comes to the $30+ range. I saw if you're going to mix this one, make it a bit strong so you can really get the flavors of the whiskey in there. Otherwise, you might as well stick with something cheaper, but still great flavor, like Weller.

Price: $35.99

Worthy: 7.5/10

Yeah, I don’t suggest hiding pricy bourbon under DC. haha

At one point in time, Rowan’s Creek was a 12 year old bourbon. However, the current product, at least going back 1-2 years, has no age statement. IMHO, it is probably a 4 year old bourbon now and not worth the price.
